Checklist for superintendents
Post-construction cleaning checklist for Austin job sites
A post-construction cleaning checklist splits the work into three phases: the rough clean while trades are on site, the final clean before inspection and turnover, and the touch-up clean before the owner or tenant walk-through. Below is the checklist our crew works from in Austin. Print this page from your browser and walk it with your superintendent.

What should a post-construction cleaning checklist include?
Every phase, every room type and every surface the next person will touch or see: debris, dust on high and low surfaces, glass, fixtures, cabinets, restrooms, kitchens and break rooms, and floors. The phases themselves are explained on our rough, final and touch-up construction cleaning page.
What is on the rough clean checklist?
- Loose debris, scraps and packaging gathered to the on-site dumpster
- Floors swept and drywall dust vacuumed
- Window frames, sills and ledges wiped
- Stickers and loose labels pulled where trades are finished
- Restrooms and break areas cleared of trade debris
- Work areas left clear for the next trade
What is on the final clean checklist?
- Light fixtures, ledges and high surfaces dusted
- Doors, frames, hardware and switch plates wiped
- Cabinets, drawers and shelving cleaned inside and out
- Interior glass, mirrors and window tracks cleaned; paint spatter and labels removed from glass
- Restroom fixtures, partitions and counters cleaned
- Kitchen and break-room counters, sinks and appliance exteriors cleaned
- Baseboards wiped
- Floors swept, vacuumed and mopped
What is on the touch-up checklist before turnover?
- Re-dust surfaces where dust has settled since the final clean
- Fingerprints and smudges off glass, doors and fixtures
- Floors redone where punch-list trades worked
- Restrooms checked and restocked if supplies are on site
- Last walk-through of each room against this list
What should a superintendent check before signing off?
Walk each room with this list in hand: look along glass and ledges in daylight, open cabinets and drawers, check corners and baseboards, and run a hand along door frames. Mark anything inside the agreed scope, and the crew picks it up during the touch-up pass. The longer explanation is on what post-construction cleaning includes.
